Information for battery disposal

1. Taking back used batteries free of charge

Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries in order to ensure proper disposal. You can return used batteries to a municipal collection point or to local dealers. As a distributor of batteries, we are also obliged to take back used batteries, whereby our obligation to take back is limited to batteries of the type that we carry or have carried in our product range as new batteries. You can either return old batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage paid or return them free of charge directly to our shipping warehouse at the following address:

2. Meaning of the battery symbols

Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out waste bin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be placed in household waste. In the case of batteries containing more than 0.0005 percent mercury, more than 0.002 percent cadmium or more than 0.004 percent lead by weight, the chemical name of the pollutant used is shown under the garbage can symbol.

  • "Cd" for cadmium
  • "Pb" for lead
  • "Hg" for mercury

Important note on the disposal of used batteries:

According to § 10 BattG, as a distributor of vehicle batteries, we are obliged to charge you a deposit of 7.50 euros per vehicle battery, including VAT, if you do not return a used vehicle battery to us at the time of purchase of a new vehicle battery. The deposit will be refunded to you on presentation of a written or electronic proof of payment according to § 10 Abs. 1 p. 4 BattG, which is at the time of presentation not later than two weeks or in case of return of a used vehicle battery. You can either return these free of charge directly to us or at a collection point set up by the public waste disposal authority (under certain circumstances liable to pay a fee).

If the used vehicle battery is not returned to the pawnbroker, the person entitled to register according to § 11 Abs. 3, BattG who takes back the used vehicle battery is obligated to confirm the return of the vehicle battery to you as the end user without deposit refund in writing or electronically on request. In this case, please send us the return receipt together with the deposit voucher and indicate your customer number, so that we can refund the deposit amount to you as quickly as possible.

Please note:

The refund of the deposit amount to you is not dependent on you returning the deposit voucher to us. The return of the goods, however, facilitates and accelerates processing. Since used vehicle batteries are hazardous goods, they must not be returned to us by post or parcel service.
