Add a high-performance 6-speaker, 400-watt audio system to your motorcycle, purpose built for select 2014+ Harley-Davidson® Road Glide® Ultra and Electra Glide® Ultra Classic® models. System includes a two 6.5” speakers for the fairing, two 6.5” speakers for the TourPak, two 6x9” speakers for the saddlebags, a 400 watt 4-channel amplifier, and complete installation kit.
This 6-speaker, 400 watt high performance audio system is designed for select 2014+ Harley-Davidson® motorcycles (see compatibility chart.) The included 6.5” fairing speakers, 6.5” TourPak speakers, and 6x9” baglid speakers are frequency-response tuned to overcome wind, exhaust, and road noise up to 75 MPH. The 400-watt amplifier features 2-channels for the fairing speakers and 2 channels for the rear TourPak and baglid speakers. The amplifier installation kit includes an external heat-sink, mounting brackets, speaker and power wiring with all necessary hardware. The included T-harness integrates into the electrical system for front/rear fading capability (requires Rockford Fosgate flash) and features a loop-thru for an optional DSR1 digital signal processor (sold separately)
*Refer to our COMPATIBILITY chart to verify fitment before purchasing.
Attention: On all Harley-Davidson® from 2014 onwards, the factory radio must be flashed before installing a maxxcount Sound Pack to prevent damage to the speakers!
Why do Harley-Davidson® from 2014 have to be flashed before an amplifier is retrofitted?
1. PROBLEM:
The 2014 Harley-Davidson® OEM factory radios use a "high fidelity" EQ curve that provides a powerful sound on low-power systems (the red curve in the picture below).
However, when retrofitted with an external amplifier, this curve over-amplifies bass and treble, causing significant distortion at higher levels and speaker damage.
2. SOLUTION:
Reset the factory EQ curve to a neutral (flat) EQ curve (see green line above) by "flashing" the Harley-Davidson® radio so that the downstream DSP or amplifier gets a neutral input signal and the connected speakers are not damaged.
This is the simplest and cheapest method to solve the problem. The "flash" method is also the acoustically optimal solution as it preserves signal integrity and thus provides maximum dynamic range and voltage potential from the source device for optimal sound quality.
Please do not use a line leveler to lower the EQ curve, as this will cut all frequencies sharply above 200Hz, thereby clipping a large part of the bass range!
3. How to flash the Harley-Davidson® Radios 2014+?
To flash the Harley-Davidson® radio you need special programming tools such as Diag4Bike or the kit from TechnoResearch.
However, if you own an older generation radio (all devices without touchscreen such as the 4.3" device with 11 buttons or the 6.5" GT radio with 4 buttons) and have always flirted with the latest Apple Carplay or Android Auto functions, you might consider a cutting-edge 7" touchscreen radio with all functions such as the SoundStream HDHU14+ (our item number: A22360) might be an option - it doesn't need to be flashed anymore ;-)
4. How to get the programming tools?
4.1. If you buy a BIKE kit from us, we will provide you with our TechnoResearch kit free of charge and on loan for 10 days at the installation date.
4.2. If you don't have the confidence to do this, you can of course ask the Harley-Davidson® specialist of your choice if he is able to flash the EQ of the radio.
4.3. If you have any questions about flashing, please contact us.
